Today was Franklin's Schoolyard Habitat unveiling which showcased the schoolyard habitat planned and implemented by the Garden Club. Franklin's Garden Club is a collective effort comprised of teachers, students, and parents. The grants that funded the habitat were given by the CT Audubon Society, The US Fish and Wildlife Fund, and Common Ground High School in New Haven.

"Miss Soto Literacy Legacy Project" has announced the final book selection for this year, "Sylvie" by Jennifer Sattler. This special addition of "Sylvie" has been printed for every family in Stratford's public schools, grades K through 6. Franklin students are pictured here receiving their copy from Matthew Soto.

Congratulations goes to Second Grader, Fisnik Hasani (first place awardee) and First Grader Makayla Ramos (second place awardee) who won awards in the 2017 eesmarts Annual Student Contest, sponsored by the Energize Connecticut initiative, Eversource Energy and United Illuminating. The student contest was open to students in Grades K through 12. Participants submitted posters and essays on various topics concerning energy efficiency and conservation. Their entries were selected from more than 1,200 entries submitted statewide! Both students were honored at a reception at the State Capitol in Hartford! This is the 4th year that Franklin students have been selected as recipients and the 2nd year that Fisnik Hasani has take home the first place award!

We here at Franklin continue to work tirelessly to effectively communicate with our families regarding their students' academic/ social progress, and school wide events/ initiatives. We have also strived to increase our communication with families of our high academic standards, expectations, and rigor. We are so pleased to see through the district survey results that 96% of our community agrees that Franklin has been successful in this endeavor. Thank you all so much for your support! Our annual spring book fair will be running Wednesday May 10th to Friday May 12th. Your child's teacher has signed up for a time during one of those days. Flyers will be coming home soon!
Here at Franklin Elementary, students can earn the Franklin's Finest Award by displaying the 6 pillars of character. There are 3 award assemblies throughout the year in which 1 student from every class is chosen to receive this honor.
