Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please read the following traffic procedures. These procedures were created to provide a safe and orderly arrival and departure for all that come and go to Stratford Academy Victoria Soto School. Your cooperation in following these procedures will help us to maintain our high traffic safety standards.

Anyone needing to enter the building during the school day between 8:45 A.M. – 3:15 P.M. should park in the spaces provided in the back parking lot area off of Sedgewick Avenue. There are a limited number of spaces within the car loop between the two school buildings. When you are at the main entrance door, please ring the bell, and state your name and the nature of your visit. This is the only door that can be used to enter the building. Once inside, you must enter the main office first.

EVERY VISITOR MUST SIGN IN THE OFFICE AND WEAR A VISITOR BADGE. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO SHOW PICTURE I.D.


¨Bus Students - Front of School - North (Birdseye St. Side Near the Car Loop and Across from Johnson)

All bus students arrive and depart from this location in front of the flag pole. This area is reserved for bus arrivals from 8:30 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. and bus departures from 3:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. Parents should not use the Johnson driveway during these times. The school buses enter through the Johnson House main entranceway, and they will stop at the flag pole area. Students will be walked to buses by a staff member.


¨Car Loop - Located between Victoria Soto School and Johnson House

All Stratford Academy students arriving and departing by car will use the car loop located between the two school buildings.

The turn-around is clearly marked with NO PARKING signs along the sidewalk. This is a DROP-OFF/PICK-UP AREA ONLY.

The teachers and staff on duty will ask to see your BOBCAT BADGE (YOU SHOULD DISPLAY THIS IN YOUR VEHICLE FOR THE STAFF TO SEE CLEARLY) and ask you for your child's name (we also ask that you write your child(ren)’s name(s) on the bobcat badge). They will then call on the walkie-talkie to have your child come to your car.

Vehicles using the turn-around must proceed in a single file along the outer curb only. CHILDREN SHOULD NEVER WALK BETWEEN CARS!

No one should be parking in the car loop fire lane in between the two school buildings at ANY TIME DURING THE DAY. THIS IS A DESIGNATED FIRE LANE FOR THE USE OF EMERGENCY VEHICLES ONLY. There are a limited number of visitor parking spaces within the loop area in the event that you have to drop something off for your child or pick your child up early.


¨Walker Line - Northwest Side (Back of School Building Near the Loop Entrance)

This back door is designated for students who are dismissed as "walkers." Students are dismissed one at a time at this door by teachers/staff to a parent or guardian. Please show your BOBCAT BADGE to the teacher/staff who is dismissing the students. “Walkers” will only be dismissed from this door. Parking in the car loop area to pick up “walkers” is not allowed.


Additional Information

If there is any change in your child’s dismissal routine (e.g. pick up by car instead of riding the bus), or if you need your child dismissed early (e.g. doctor/dentist appointment before 3:00) please write a note to be given to your child’s teacher. Please come into the main office to sign your child out of school, and he or she will be called to the office once you have arrived.


BOBCAT BADGE

Every student will be issued two BOBCAT BADGES 2015-2016 (color will change each year) in the opening of school mailing. They must be used for “WALKER LINE” and “CAR LINE” and any office dismissals.They have to be displayed by an authorized person before a child is dismissed.This is for the protection of the child. If you are in need of a replacement BOBCAT BADGE, please contact the main office to be issued a new one.
