️Hello Franklin Families,
I hope this message finds you well! I would like to share some very important information regarding the 2020 US CENSUS.
As you may already be aware, the Congress approved the extension of the census until October 31st. That's really great news since the census takers assignment was delayed due to COVID-19.
Currently, Stratford's self-response rate is at 67.4%. Fairfield County is 62% , Connecticut 63.2%, and the US 59.6%. Compared to the 2010 census , this data is very similar for this time period. The main difference is that most residents are now completing the survey online.
We still have a high non-response rate of 32.6%. According to the last census, for each counted resident the federal government distributed an average of $2500/per resident to states/towns!!! The funds were used for critical programs, disaster recovery initiatives and services. More than ever our schools need the support of the federal government . More people counted , more funds will come our way.
If you did not have the chance to complete the survey please visit :
The census is quick, confidential and secure. Residents can respond by mail, online or by calling the toll-free number 844-330-2020
Our teachers shared this video in the past but if you did not have the opportunity to watch, our sixth graders and our town videographer Lou Spetrino created a short, bilingual video to help educate our residents about the importance of the US Census and how an accurate count can help improve our community for the next ten years.
