Garden Club Information
Garden Club News November 2016:
Please join us in congratulating our Garden Club, Mrs. Paradis, and Mrs. Lizotte for obtaining Schoolyard Habitat grant in which Franklin Elementary School will be joining a network of schoolyard habitats and urban oases being created across New Haven and Fairfield Counties in public spaces, neighborhoods, and schoolyards. These urban oases-habitats and green spaces for people and wildlife- create critical stopover habitat in urban areas for migrating songbirds and work to inspire people to conservation action and long-term stewardship of their communities.
On April 30th a few of the Franklin Garden Club members and their parents worked with Mrs. Lizotte and Mrs. Paradis plant two new butterfly gardens, several hydrangeas and other plants along the front of the school.
Be sure to take a look!
The Franklin Garden Club received a grant from Connecticut Forest and Parks Association and The National Wildlife Foundation to plant a pollinator garden this spring. So watch around the building for some beautiful plants being planted.
In other good news, the Garden club has grown to 30 students joining us! We meet twice a month for the rest of the school year. Please contact Mrs. Paradis (email: firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mrs. Lizotte (email: email@example.com) for more information.
