The Healing Library

The Stratford Library and Stratford Parents’ Place will be creating Healing Library kits that can be checked out to help families cope with traumatic circumstances.

The first three kits will be on these themes:

· Death of a Loved One
· Death of a Pet
· Alzheimer’s & Your Family

We will be creating 3-5 additional kits (depending on the cost) on themes that are relevant to the community. Please complete the survey below and select additional topics you would be interested in using.

Stratford Parent Leadership Program gearing up for next session!

Parents looking to partner with the Stratford Public Schools and be leaders on educational issues are invited to participate in Parents Supporting Educational Excellence (Parents SEE), a parent leadership training program offered to parents, foster parents and grandparents of Stratford Public School children in pre-kindergarten through grade six. The program is sponsored by the Stratford School Readiness and Child Care Advisory Council, in cooperation with the Stratford Public Schools. It will be held at Stratford Academy/ Johnson House (Stratford Parents’ Place and Early Childhood Services Office) in the winter/spring of 2019 beginning on February 2, 2019. This free course includes a five hour Saturday retreat and continues for twelve Wednesday evenings, 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. with dinner. Childcare is also provided. Stratford Parents’ Place announces

Spring 2019 Registration for Toddler/Preschool

Parent/Child Playgroups on:

Tuesday, February 19th, 9:00 – 12:00 Wednesday, February 20th, 9:00 – 12:00

The 10 week session starts the week of February 25th. The cost is $25Activity Fee for entire session. Scholarships are available, please inquire if needed. Must be a Stratford resident to attend.

In the playgroups, children engage in age appropriate activities with peers, while parents learn effective parenting strategies to use at home. Emphasis is on play with circle time, arts/crafts and a snack.Developmental Screening is also offered through the Ages and Stages Questionnaire.

Spring Class Schedule:

  • Monday 1-2 ½ year olds, 9:00-10:15 OR 10:30-11:45
  • Tuesdays, 2 ½ years and older, 9:00-10:15*
  • Wednesdays, 2 ½ years and older, 9:00-10:15* *4/5 year olds who are not enrolled in preschool are eligible to attend

Ongoing Groups

Wednesdays, Baby Time for Parents and Babies Birth to 1 year. 11:00a.m. - 12 noon (2nd Wednesday every month)

Open Center Activity Group ,Thursday 9-10:15am, Unstructured Playgroup for Parents, Childcare Providers (two children or less) and Grandparents for children 1-5 years of age.
