Stratford Public Schools’ Career Center offers job and career exploration opportunities for all secondary students at Bunnell and Stratford High Schools and the ALPHA Program. Part of our services include announcing local student job opportunities to our school communities. The Career Center staff recognizes the need and desire of our students to hold part-time employment. While we strive to offer and notify families about these opportunities, and, value the safety and well-being of our students, the Career Center staff is not responsible for conducting background checks on external employment opportunities and cannot attest to the sustainability of the positions, nor of the offering organizations. Students and parents are responsible for making all decisions, regarding prospective employment opportunities. Please see the links from the Connecticut Department of Labor below to see how your child meets age eligibility criteria for employment. 

 

Instructions to Obtain Working Papers 

 

1. In accordance with the State of Connecticut Child Labor Laws, a student must be of eligible age to obtain employment (please see the links below). A student must be offered employment and given a signed Promise of Employment letter from the prospective employer. 

2. The student is to present the Promise of Employment letter to their school’s Main Office staff, where they will be granted their working papers (Certificate of Age Form ED-301). Please contact your school’s Main Office for hours of availability.

2016 - 2026 State of Connecticut Occupational Projections 

Every two years, the State of Connecticut's Department of Labor Office of Research economists create ten year industry employment forecasts. These forecasts are used in conjunction with occupational forecasts to help students decide on careers, schools decide on training programs, businesses decide on strategic plans, and governments decide on budgets and services.
