National Junior Honor Society
Advisors- Mr. Vignati and Ms. Shagoury
Students are selected in the spring of grade seven based on academic standing, leadership, character, and service through the third marking period. Potential members of NJHS are first identified through their class standing. Students whose averages are 92.5 are asked to submit an essay and complete an application that describes their volunteerism efforts. (Please be advised that students enrolled in Pre-Algebra or Algebra in grade 7 will be awarded 0.5 extra points when their grade averages are calculated.) Students are given a due date by which the application packet must be completed. Teacher Surveys based on the student's character, leadership and service are also used to determine eligibility.
Wooster's Faculty Advisors reviews all applications, teacher surveys, and essays to determine membership. Selected students are inducted in a ceremony held in May.
Meetings are held every other week and the focus is on community service. Check the sidebar on the left to get information about meeting dates and times.
