4th Grade Teamwork!

With limited directions, these fourth graders persevered through the challenge of assembling this organizer - Showcasing the importance of collaboration and the power of hands on learning.

Their teacher was SO grateful for their help!

6th Grade UCONN Engineers Visit:

The UCONN Engineering Ambassadors visited our sixth grade this week to spread knowledge and spark interest in engineering.

Students participated in a presentation about rockets before making and racing balloon rockets!

This Week At Lordship School:

Students interested in Student Council met with Ms. Bielen to learn more about the program, obtain signatures, and prepare their speeches. We look forward to hearing them!

Our ATP team met to review the data from last year’s Welcoming Walkthrough. We discussed potential events and ways to improve the school and increase family involvement.

Teachers took time this week to discuss individual goals with students on literacy, math, and behavior. When you come in for conferences on the 16th or 23rd, look at the post it note on your child’s desk. They have reflected on their strengths and areas of growth and identified something they would like to work on this year. We want to celebrate that student agency and help them achieve their goals.

Thank you to our families that were able to attend Open House on Thursday! I am proud of our teachers’ hard work and dedication to our wonderful students, and appreciate you connecting with them to hear more about classroom life at Lordship.

Data Review - While we have work to do at Lordship School, I also want to share that our school scores higher than many other schools in Stratford when we compare our scores to district averages. This speaks to the effort our teachers pour into your children on a daily basis.

Reminders:

Upcoming Dates:

-If/when staff members reach out regarding your child's behavior in school, please note that this is not something anyone enjoys doing. We ask for your support and follow through at home when this happens, so that students can learn from their actions and make corrections that will benefit their social emotional development over time. We don’t expect our students to get it right every time, but we would be doing them a disservice if we let things go as well.

-We utilize restorative practices at Lordship School - focusing on building positive relationships, fostering accountability, and resolving conflicts through dialogue, reflection, and mutual understanding rather than punishment, while holding students accountable for their actions using the Stratford Public Schools Code of Student Conduct.

-Drop off begins at 8:30 and ends at 8:45. Students arriving at 8:45 will be marked tardy and need to enter via the main office. Please drive safely.

-Please follow our PreK-6 Assistant Superintendent on social media to see the wonderful happenings across the district - dr.dianadiiorio
