4th Grade Culturally Responsive Writing

4th Grade Literacy:

This week’s module explored diverse global dance styles & cultural significance. Students learned about various forms of dance like folk dancing, tap, and hip-hop, highlighting dance as a universal form of expression for joy, tradition, and community.

Winter Assessment Next Steps → Classroom teachers will continue to target specific areas of need in small group instruction. Curricular standards not assessed to date will be incorporated into morning work to increase exposure and build student capacity. Our school will focus on grit, stamina, persistence etc. in our morning announcements to teach attributes that support academic growth and lifelong learning.

After School Clubs Memo - Our program begins this Thursday 2/12. Families participating have been contacted via the email address used for registration to share dates, logistics etc.

Core Values - Moving into February, our focus will shift to our second core value - Kindness. Throughout Kindness Month, we will focus on instructing what Kindness looks like at Lordship School, and provide students with daily Kindness Challenges to complete!

ABA Materials - Our ABA program teachers could use some everyday items to build functional skills. These items do not need to be new - If you have any of these items and would like to donate, please send them into school with a note “ABA” on them. Thank you!

Upcoming Dates:

-Reminder to Families - At drop off parents should not enter the building unless they have signed into the main office first. Kinder Families - We know transitions can be difficult - Our staff is here and committed to helping our youngest Sea Stars build their independence!

-Parents must notify Mr. Kowalsky before eating lunch in the cafeteria. Email is best for confirmation - kowalskyb@stratk12.org

-Cell phones must be off and away all day per district policy.

-Please stress the importance of safe behavior on the bus. Students must remain seated, talk at an appropriate volume, and keep their hands to oneself.

-Please remind your students that their hoods should come down upon entering the school building.Hoods, hats, and ski masks are not permitted.

-We have a uniform policy at Lordship School. Students should be in uniform.

-No nut products are allowed at school per district policy!
