We are excited to announce that Eli Whitney is in the process of collecting books for our Little Free Library. We are hoping to have it up and running within the next few weeks. If you have any donations you would like to make please send them in with your student and they can be brought directly to Mrs. Coutinho. We will take children's books as well as adult books all in decent condition.

Last week the Board of Education recognized Eli Whitney as a school of distinction and retired principal Mrs. Florek for her years of service.

Eli Whitney 5th graders created their own living wax museum as part of their Black History Month celebration. So many amazing leaders and heroes were recognized.

Eli Whitney fourth grade students participated in the Invention Convention last week. Thank you to all students for their submissions, and all judges as well.
Congrats and good luck to the students who's' inventions are going on to compete in the next round of competitions.

Eli Whitney second graders participated in the annual "pet adoption" event hosted by their classroom teachers. Each student adopts their own dog which becomes their personal reading buddy. This year we even had a special guest, Ms. Cooper from Second Hill Lane and her therapy dog Domino!

Our first graders are also excited about the 100th day. They are 100 days more bright and they are showing it by decorating their shirts with 100 items!

Today is the 100th Day of School and our Kindergarteners are celebrating being 100 days wiser by dressing up as 100 year olds!

We would like to extend a warm “Whitney Welcome” to Mrs. Lea DiStefano who will be joining our learning community as Interim Assistant Principal. Lea comes to Stratford from Totoket Valley Elementary in Northford, CT.
Lea will officially begin on Monday, February 13.

Monday January 30th the Eli Whitney school community celebrated Mrs. Florek our building principals' retirement. She has dedicated over 40 years of service to the Stratford Public District. Mrs. Florek will be greatly missed by all!

Friday January 27th our Whitney families were able to participate in Donut with Grownups before school. Thank you to our Eli Whitney PTSA for hosting such a great event!

UPDATE:
So far the Eli Whitney Community has collected and counted 40k tabs. This is a great step towards our goal of collecting One Million for the Ronald McDonald foundation.
