The Eli Whitney students raised over 10k in our Read-a-Thon, this year. Mr. Veteri and Mrs. Florek agreed to bubble battle if the students met this goal. Today they bubble battled and Mrs. Florek won beating Mr. Veteri to maintain her title of Bubble Battle Champion.

This Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday weather permitting the PTSA will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair. Don't forget to share that love of reading with your students!!! Parents are invited to shop along with their students as well; however must sign in at the office first. You can also add money to your student's e-wallet.

Tuesday May 31st children's author Carmen Rubin visited Eli Whitney School. She read the students her autobiography "Hancho Hates Mud" and talked to the students about developing and nurturing their love of reading and writing. This was an amazing event sponsored by our PTSA and set up by Mrs. Anicette. Thank you!!

Thursday May 26th Mrs. Booska and Mrs. Coutinho took part in the ceramic poppy planting at town hall. Eli Whitney students made and glazed flowers that were planting at the town hall. Stratford High students and several other community partners also created these beautiful flowers. If you have a chance stop by town all this weekend to take a look.

Today Mrs. Maida's class enjoyed some outdoor time bird watching thanks to the generous donation of binoculars by the PTSA. Students were looking for and tallying local songbirds observed.

Tomorrow Wednesday May 25th our students and faculty will start our annual Memorial Day Poppy Planting Event. These "flowers" are constructed by students and represent fallen soldiers. This project has become an Eli Whitney tradition under the guidance of Mrs. Wilcoxson and her 5th grade co- teachers.

This past Saturday, our PTSA hosted a Kickball Tournament. Ten mixed grade teams competed on our back field. Students and families had fun, ate pizza, and enjoyed italian ice. Thank you PTSA for hosting a fun filled event!
