Title IX

The U.S. Department of Education and the Stratford Public School enforces, among other statutes, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. Title IX states:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

The following form may be used by any student or employee of the District who believes they are a victim of sexual harassment occurring in the District’s education program or activities and wishes to file a formal complaint. The filing/signing of this form will trigger a full investigation. With or without a formal complaint, supportive measures will be offered to both a complainant (alleged victim) and respondent (alleged perpetrator).
