Continuum of Services

Through the resource model, a special education teacher can provide supports within the general education classroom or in a separate setting, dependent on the student’s needs and goals and objectives as outlined by the IEP. In the general education setting, both a general education teacher and special education teacher deliver content area instruction. This model allows for students with exceptionalities to access grade level curriculum while receiving special education supports. Special education support can also occur within a separate setting, where specialized instruction is provided based upon goals and objectives, individually or in a small group.
