Bunnell High School proudly completed their NEASC Decennial Accreditation, which highlighted several key strengths, including the development of a systematic curriculum review process and the continued enhancement of instructional practices that support differentiation, student agency, and meaningful learning experiences. The visiting team also recognized strong opportunities for students to apply learning in authentic, real-world contexts particularly through its CTE programs.
In addition, the committee noted the school's commitment to providing students with multiple opportunities to demonstrate learning, receive and apply feedback, and grow through reflection. Strengths also included the purposeful integration of technology, a clear and shared vision of learning through the Portrait of a Graduate, and a structured data-driven Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
The report further emphasized the strong partnership between district leadership and the school, ongoing attention to facility improvement, and a vibrant school culture that fosters pride across academics and athletics. Overall, the visit affirmed a deeply committed staff that consistently goes above and beyond in service of students. Bunnell thanks everyone that contributed to the success
Miss Salamon's class participated in a "Battle of the Books" throughout March, during which students voted on their favorite texts. Our March Madness-themed literacy activities incorporated math skills through voting, tallying, and graphing results, while also featuring special guest readers to enhance student engagement and foster a love of reading!
George A. Coleman Excellence in Equity Award
Serc created this award to honor and highlight extraordinary acts of commitment and courage to ensure all Connecticut students, especially students of color and culturally and linguistically diverse students, are valued and respected in their school experience.
Award recipients will be selected based on their steadfast and unwavering action in:
- Advocating for children and families of color;
- Galvanizing individuals and coalitions toward equitable action;
- Taking risks in conversation and action regarding issues of equity for racially, linguistically and culturally diverse groups;
- Engaging the diverse needs of members of an education community and reconciling them toward a shared vision; and
- Furthering the exchange of information that affects thinking and effects conviction on matters of equity.

Lordship PTA hosted "Donuts with Grownups" . The event was well attended, and the Lordship families ate, socialized and even did some coloring together!
Stratford High School junior class students participated in the Financial Reality Fair on March 24, 2026 in the auxiliary gym which was hosted by the Sikorsky Credit Union. This interactive experience provided students with an authentic, real-world application of personal finance concepts while reinforcing key Portrait of a Graduate skills. Using the Bite of Reality 2 app, student engaged in critical thinking and problem-solving as they selected careers and analyzed their projected monthly net income. Then, they navigated the fair, making informed financial decisions across various expense categories (i.e. housing, food, transportation, etc.). At each station, students demonstrated decision-making and responsibility by evaluating trade-offs and prioritizing needs versus wants with a limited budget. As students entered their expenses into the app, they utilized technology and digital literacy skills to track and manage their finances in real time. The app’s doughnut chart provided a visual representation of their spending, encouraging data analysis and financial awareness as students assessed how their choices impacted their overall financial stability. Throughout the experience, students practiced adaptability and perseverance by adjusting their budgets when expenses exceeded their income. Many were required to reconsider their choices or explore alternatives such as obtaining a part-time job, reinforcing the importance of flexibility in real-life financial planning. Additionally, the fair fostered communication and collaboration, as students discussed decisions with peers, asked questions of volunteers, and reflected on their financial outcomes. This interactive dialogue deepened their understanding and allowed them to learn from one another’s experiences. Overall, the Financial Reality Fair served as a powerful, hand-on learning opportunity that not only highlighted the importance of budgeting but also strengthened essential Portrait of a Graduate competencies, preparing students to become informed, responsible, and financially capable individuals.

IMPORTANT READ: Regarding KINDERGARTEN WAIVERS
Dear Stratford Public Schools Families,
Last week, Governor Lamont signed Public Act 26-1, bringing changes to kindergarten entry age requirements in Connecticut. Currently, children who turn five after September 1 may be admitted early through a waiver process. Beginning July 1, 2026, this waiver process becomes optional for school districts, and it will be eliminated entirely by July 1, 2027.
In alignment with this legislation, Stratford Public Schools will not offer early admission waivers beginning this school year. This means that children must be five years old on or before September 1 to enroll in kindergarten, and there will be no waiver option available.
If your child does not meet this requirement, we encourage you to explore preschool options for the coming year.

Kudos to Stratford High Junior, Victoria Bernard, for her participation in the District Rotary Semi-Final Competition event. Victoria competed against Westport, Hamden, Amity, Norwalk and Trumbull, to name just a handful of our neighboring district competitors. Victoria's speech was a call to action on fostering human connection across the community and business sector by limiting access to phones and social media.
In attendance was Victoria's mother, sister and Elizabeth Bourjailli, Humanities Department Head (Grades 7-12) for Wooster Middle School and Stratford High School.
Stratford High School shares that SERC (State Educator Resource Center) has announced that Kathleen Mack has been selected as a 2026 honoree for the George A. Coleman Excellence in Equity Award!
The award will be presented during SERC's second annual Awards Night ceremony taking place on Thursday, April 2, 2026!
