BHS and Beacon staff had a blast playing kickball against our Unified athletes and partners in blue! The competition was friendly, fierce but most of all, FUN for all who had the opportunity to participate!!

The Mayor of Stratford invites you to become a Mayor’s Reading Champion by participating in the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge. The program is sponsored by the Office of the Mayor, the Stratford Library, and in partnership with Stratford Schools. Recognition as a Reading Champion is open to all Stratford students, ages 0-12 years old. Dear Students: I would like to invite you to become a Mayor’s Reading Champion by participating in the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge. The program is sponsored by the Office of the Mayor, the Stratford Library, and in partnership with Stratford Schools. Recognition as a Reading Champion is open to all Stratford students, ages 0-12 years old. To become a Champion, I ask that you read at least eight books this summer. You are welcome to read books of your choice, however a list of suggested books can be found at the following link: http://stratfordlibrary.org/summer-reading-2023/. Once you have achieved your goal of reading eight or more books, please ask your parent/guardian to help you register online at www.townofstratford.com/champions. You may also register by calling (203) 385-4029 or by sending an email to kdoyle@townofstratford.com. All Champions who register by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023, will be honored with a Mayor’s Reading Champion certificate of recognition at the Summer Reading Challenge Celebration, where Champions will be treated to ice cream sundaes and other surprises. The celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, August 9th, 2023, at the historic Perry House, 1028 West Broad Street, Stratford, CT. This is a drop-in event; families are welcome to stop by any time between 4:00 to 6:00 pm. In the past, nearly 2,200 students have read over 20,500 books to complete the Reading Challenge. Lordship School After School FREE PLAY Program. We are offering an after-school free play program starting on Tuesday, April 18th, and running through Thursday, May 25th. Free play is when children have full freedom to play in whatever way they want. They have the freedom to select their play materials and interest area such as basketball, soccer, can jam, playdough, sidewalk chalk, badminton, jenga, jump rope, frisbee, etc. All students are welcome to join. The program will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30pm. There will be a late bus available. A registration slip will come home next week. Please complete and return to the classroom teacher or main office asap as registration will close once capacity is filled.

Erica McQueen, the owner/chef of Queen's Delight, was a guest chef on Friday at the Stratford High Red and Gold Cafe. She shared one of her recipes, Banana Foster French Toast with the Exploring Culinary Arts classes. Thank you, Chef Erica!!!!

Drumline & Color Guard: Bunnell - The 23rd Annual Drumline and Colorguard Competition for Bunnell and Stratford High School’s Marching Band takes place Saturday, March 11, 2023. Show start is at 2:00 PM. Doors will open at 1:00 PM. The location is Bunnell High School, 1 Bulldog Boulevard - Stratford CT 06614. Admission is $15 (Adults) $8 (Children under 10). Cash or Credit Cards accepted. Food will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit Bunnell-Stratford Marching Band & Guard.
