Eligibility Standards

Revised Academic Standards for Interscholastic Athletics of Stratford High School

The Stratford Board of Education adopted more stringent academic eligibility standards for student-athletes, beginning with the 2006-2007 school year. Fall sports student-athletes are advised that end-of-year grades will impact eligibility for the fall season. Any student who receives more than one failing end of year grade in any subject will be ineligible to participate in a fall sport. The new standards are as follows:

In order to be eligible to participate in interscholastic athletics at Stratford High School or Bunnell High School, a student-athlete must meet the following standards:

A student must be taking a minimum of four one unit subjects each marking period.

In order to be eligible during the second, third and fourth marking periods, a student must pass four one unit subjects the previous marking period.

In order to be eligible during the first marking period, a student must earn a minimum of four credits and not receive more than one failing end of year grade from the previous school year.

A student who receives two or more failing grades (in any classes) the previous marking period shall be ineligible to participate in interscholastic contests. (This includes end of year grades of the previous school year in determining eligibility for the first marking period.)
